A small shop for backyard birders

Nuthatch Lane started in 2016 as a folding table at the Forsyth Farmers' Market with a dozen cedar nest boxes and a hand-lettered hole-size chart. It’s still a small shop, run by people who fill their own feeders every morning.

How we choose what we carry

Everything in the shop earns its place in a real yard first. We hang new feeders on the test poles behind our workshop, fill them through a Lowcountry summer of heat, storms and very determined squirrels, and watch who comes and who gives up. Feeders that jam, crack in the cold, or can’t be taken apart for cleaning don’t make the catalog.

We tag every piece with the birds it actually draws, because the question we hear most isn’t “which feeder is best?” — it’s “how do I get bluebirds?” That’s why the shop can be browsed by bird as well as by department.

What we don’t sell

No seed, no nectar mixes, no gimmicks. Seed is heavy to ship and fresher from your local feed store, and nectar is four parts water to one part sugar — our field notes have the recipe. We’d rather put the shipping money into hardware that lasts.

Where we are

We pack and ship from 405 Cleland Ave in Savannah, a short drive from some of the best coastal birding in the Southeast. We don’t keep retail hours, but we’re happy to help by email or phone, monday to friday, 9 am to 5 pm eastern.
